Surface 360 has transformed the outside dining space for one of the restaurants at ZSL London Zoo with their ultra-realistic timber effect 20mm porcelain paving tiles.
Situated in Barclay Court, opposite the Amphitheatre and next to the Zoo shop and exit, The Terrace Restaurant can now host visitors on their large open dining terrace, which is perfect for those warm days in the height of the season.
Utilising the 600mm x 600mm, square format Levato Mono ‘Arbortek 04’ paving tile which features a plank-effect style, Surface 360 covered a total surface area circa 500m2 for The Terrace Restaurant.
The Arbortek porcelain tile range boasts an aesthetically pleasing surface finish, which incorporates the natural irregularities of wood into its design. This, combined with a grained finish and a moderate shade variation, creates the hyper-realistic visual and touch of natural timber.
Unlike real timber, porcelain offers high performance characteristics for a durable, mould free and slip resistant surface. In particular, Arbortek 04 provides any application with an R11 (A, B and C) Classification for slip resistance, which is tested to the UK recognised, German National Standard. This not only provides peace of mind and safety under foot for ZSL London Zoo visitors, but also provides a low maintenance and easy-to-clean surface for ZSL London Zoo staff.
Below the stunning timber-effect porcelain surface sits the pedestal support system, which upholds each 20mm porcelain tile to create a perfectly raised and levelled terrace floor. Thanks to the paving support system, the new raised floor creates a high load-bearing surface without compromising the waterproof membrane and substrate below.
Surface 360, formerly The Deck Tile Co, specialises in timber-effect porcelain tiles for exterior commercial buildings and residential homes. Arbortek, along with other specific exterior tile ranges, offers a complementary porcelain tile range for interior spaces to provide any building or home with coordinating inside and outside flooring.
