Over in the Cotswolds, the Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre boasts the country’s largest private collection of trees and shrubs. The intimate and romantic setting provides visitors to relax and catch up with their friends and family for morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea at the Garden Terrace Café.
Although it offers a great place to soak up the surrounding atmosphere and arboretum sun, the previous decking installed had become weathered and turned rather slippery and unsafe in poor conditions. This was an immediate concern for the Batsford Centre and so they turned to Surface 360 to provide them with a new floor solution for their restaurant terrace.
Not only did the new surface have to provide excellent slip resistance for safety under foot, the flooring also needed to complement the natural surroundings and beauty of the Centre.
Focussing on the timber element from the natural environment, the Levato Mono TeknoTimber 04 porcelain paving tile range were chosen to pave the way across the 282m² terrace area. Although made from porcelain, the TeknoTimber tile range boasts a hyper-realistic timber-effect surface finish with an aesthetically pleasing dark grey oak grain.
The 20mm thick porcelain tiles were installed on top of an impressive self-levelling Pedestal Support System, which enabled the Surface 360 team to create a perfectly raised and levelled floor over the existing uneven terrace substrate.
The ribbed surface texture of each paver provided excellent slip resistance for the terrace in both wet and dry conditions, while the porcelain properties provide an extremely durable, long-lasting and easy-to-clean surface, which is resistant to mould, chemicals and frost.
